5-week Privacy Law Series
Reason 1 – Trust/confidence
Individuals care about their privacy. That means they care about what personal information you collect about them and what you do with it. Even if a law doesn’t require you to have a privacy notice (privacy policy) in place, disclosing your business’ privacy practices builds confidence and trust. The absence of a privacy notice could lead consumers to go elsewhere. It is important, however, to make sure everything you say in a privacy notice is accurate, because what you say could be used against you if the statements made do not comport with reality or fail to live up to representations made.
