Paul E. Voegelin Stewardship Award

 Paul E. Voegelin

Paul E. Voegelin

The Paul E. Voegelin Stewardship Award is named in honor of our esteemed Chief Operating Officer, Paul E. Voegelin. It is awarded annually to the member of the Sheehan Phinney family who, in stewardship of the firm, has exhibited most strongly Paul’s valued traits of humility, respect for others, relentless optimism, and steadfast commitment to excellence.

Paul joined Sheehan in 2017 as our Chief Operating Officer and was an invaluable member of the Firm’s management team.  Along with his wonderful family: wife Oriente and daughters Sabrina and Tiana, we mourn his passing on December 2, 2024 following a long and courageous battle with brain cancer.

Paul brought energy, insight, compassion and integrity to his work and he had a profound effect on the Firm and everyone with whom he interacted. Paul loved his work and cared deeply about his colleagues.  We are so much the better because of him.

Before joining the Firm, Paul worked for decades in various industries, including biotechnology. He brought to the Firm new ideas and perspectives.  He often challenged the Firm to think differently about problems, and to approach opportunity for growth and change optimistically.

Consistent with the Firm’s core value of community involvement, Paul got involved outside the office.  He was a member of Leadership New Hampshire (Class of 2022), served on the board of the Farnum Center for several years, and later served as Treasurer on the Board of Directors, Easterseals New Hampshire.

Paul left a powerful legacy of excellence, humility and good humor. He was an extraordinary man who will be greatly missed, though he endures in each of us who had the pleasure of knowing and working with him.

Shortly after Paul’s passing, the Firm established the Paul E. Voegelin Stewardship Award. The annual Sheehan recipient of this award receives the “Voegelin Cup,” a fittingly classic, Waterford Crystal.

We think Paul would like that the recipient of the award also receives a $5,000 prize to do with what he or she would like and another $5,000 prize to be donated to a charity of the recipient’s choice.
