(6/25/2020, Manchester, NH) – Sheehan Phinney shareholder James P. “Jim” Reidy has been elected as a Fellow of the American Bar Association’s College of Labor and Employment Lawyers class of 2020.
The College of Labor & Employment Lawyers is a non-profit professional association honoring the leading lawyers nationwide in the practice of Labor and Employment Law. Their Fellows are recognized as distinguished members of the labor and employment community who promote achievement, advancement and excellence in the practice by setting standards of professionalism and civility, by sharing their experience and knowledge and by acting as a resource for academia, the government, the judiciary and the community at large.
Reidy is the co-chair of the firm’s Labor and Employment practice group. He practices in the areas of management side labor and employment law with an emphasis on assisting employers in effectively avoiding, or defending against, employment disputes. Reidy represents organizations ranging from multi-national corporations, to closely-held, family-owned businesses, to not-for- profit entities and public sector employers. He has extensive experience handling matters before the New Hampshire Department of Labor, the New Hampshire Commission for Human Rights, the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission and the U.S. Department of Labor as well as other state and federal agencies.
Widely recognized for his work in labor and employment Law, Reidy has been recognized by Chambers USA, New England Super Lawyers and Best Lawyers in America, where he was named the Manchester, NH Lawyer of the Year for 2014, 2016, 2019 and 2020. He has been recognized as the HR Hero by the Granite State HR Association. He also received the New Hampshire Business Review Business Excellence Award (Business and Professional Services) and 2019 Top 200 Most Influential Business Leaders in New Hampshire as well as the New Hampshire Business and Industry Association’s BIA’s Above and Beyond Award.
Reidy regularly writes articles and presents seminars on a wide range of topics in employment law. He is the moderator of NHLABORNET, the popular Internet discussion group for human resource professionals in New Hampshire. In recent years he has become an employment law resource for several national and regional associations and media outlets including the Society for Human Resources Management, CNN, The Washington Post, The Wall Street Journal, The Hill, Bloomberg, The New York Times, HR Magazine, Business NH Magazine, Employer’s Counsel Network, NPR, HR Power Hour, WMUR and others. Reidy is admitted to practice in New Hampshire and Massachusetts, received his J.D., cum laude, from New England School of Law, his M.P.A. from Northeastern University and his B.A. from Assumption College.
