(January 25, 2018, Manchester, NH) – As part of the “deregulation” of electric utilities in NH, which began almost 20 years ago, Eversource recently completed the divesture of its fossil fuel generating facilities with a sale of those assets to Granite Shore Power, LLC. The auction, conducted by JP Morgan, and sale was overseen and supervised by the NH Public Utilities Commission. In July 2016 the NH PUC retained Sheehan Phinney as special counsel to provide the Commission and staff with transactional support throughout the auction and sale process.
The Sheehan Phinney legal team was led by Colleen Lyons, a member of its Business and Transactions Group, with critical support on regulatory and environmental matters from Robert Cheney and Lynn Preston, members of its Environment & Energy Group, and on real estate matters from Sue Manchester, a member of its Real Estate & Development Group. Divestiture of Eversource’s remaining generation assets is expected to be completed later in 2018 with the sale of Eversource’s hydro assets. The Sheehan Phinney legal team will also provide support to the NH PUC for that transaction.
