MANY CHILDREN view a pony as the ultimate holiday gift. They close their eyes and blow out birthday candles with the hopes that when their eyes open, they will see a shiny pony with a big red bow out in the yard. Not surprisingly, there are a lot of disappointed children on holidays. But, ponies and horses are directly tied to the United States’ economy to the tune of $39 billion per year, according to the National Economic Impact of the U.S. Horse Industry national study.
