(May 18, 2016, Manchester, NH) – Sheehan Phinney shareholder, David W. McGrath, was elected as the Vice President of the New Hampshire Bar Association (NHBA), a position he will hold for two years. He previously served as the Hillsborough North County Governor.
The purpose of the NHBA is to serve its members by connecting them with services, programs and resources necessary to function effectively as members of the profession and to serve the public by connecting members with the information and opportunities needed to carry out their public service obligations. The NHBA Board of Governors is a volunteer board that meets monthly to govern the association. All positions are voted by active members of the NHBA.
McGrath serves as President and Managing Director of the firm. He also maintains an active general commercial litigation and employment practice. McGrath represents firm clients in state and federal courts, arbitration and administrative proceedings. He routinely handles trade secret, non-competition, predatory hiring, discrimination, retaliation and whistleblower, wrongful termination and health care cases. He is a certified mediator who serves in that role frequently for the state and federal courts, as well as the New Hampshire Commission For Human Rights.
In 2015 McGrath was named by Business NH Magazine as the best employment lawyer in the state, as recognized by his peers. He has been named one of the Best Lawyers in America, as well as a NewEngland Super Lawyer, both in the area of Labor & Employment law. He is listed in Chambers USA as one of the top employment lawyers in New Hampshire. McGrath is a 2013 graduate of Leadership New Hampshire. Among his many community activities, he serves on the Board of Inti Soccer Academy, a not-for-profit organization serving Manchester’s underprivileged youth through a variety of educational and athletic opportunities. He received his B.A. from Framingham State College and his J.D. from Cornell University Law School.
