We represent hospitals, nursing homes and other health care facilities, as well as physician and professional practice groups, including sole practitioners, medical partnerships, professional corporations, and limited liability entities. We also represent individual physicians, dentists, ARNPs, and other health care practitioners. The members of our group advise health care clients on all aspects of their businesses, including employment and contract issues, patient care issues, financing and securities transactions, real estate acquisitions and development, facilities construction, tax planning, and general corporate and commercial matters. Together, we bring unique experience and depth of analysis to health care providers in such areas as compliance with HIPAA, EMTALA, the fraud and abuse/anti-kickback and Stark laws, medical records issues and contracting with third-party payors.
For our institutional clients, we assist in the planning and implementation of projects and initiatives and the development of operating policies and procedures to comply with governing laws and regulations.
We handle state and federal regulatory issues, including certificate of need, Medicare and Medicaid, licensure and compliance matters, as well as provide representation in administrative and judicial proceedings. Our institutional clients also look to us to address matters involving staff privileges, bylaws and contracts.
We help physicians, dentists, ARNPs and other professional practice groups with organizational and tax matters, buy-ins and buy-outs, licensure and regulatory concerns, acquisitions and sales of practices, joint ventures and other contractual relationships, including deferred compensation and retirement plan arrangements.
In addition to providing legal services, we also serve as educational and training resources on such topics as EMTALA and HIPAA, as well as other areas of health care and business law. The members of our group are frequently asked to speak at or lead seminars for our clients and others in the health care community seeking guidance on complex health care issues. Whenever possible, we partner with regulators and other professionals who can provide a continuum of perspectives on these matters.
Our Health Care Group includes attorneys who have legislative and administrative experience, who have served as government regulators, and who have worked in the health care private sector. Their experiences allow us to provide clients with valuable insights into the processes, practicalities and realities of the ever-changing health care arena.
